The Ring: The Legacy Continues
The Ring commissioned Bigtime Creative Shop to revitalize its brand identity and celebrate its 103-year history. The client aimed to bridge the gap between its legendary archives and the modern boxing era, targeting both long-time enthusiasts and new fans. The goal was to reinforce the magazine's status as the definitive authority in boxing while ensuring its legacy continued to resonate in a digital-first world.
Creative Idea
A miniature ring acts as a portal connecting a century of boxing history.
The campaign celebrates a century of boxing history by blending miniature animation with real-world fight footage, positioning The Ring as the definitive, living archive of the sport to inspire a new generation of fans and fighters.
A Century of Boxing in Miniature
Crafting the Miniature Arena
To achieve the film's distinct aesthetic, the production team at COLOSSAL utilized a hybrid approach that merged handcrafted miniature sets with sophisticated digital compositing. The directors, known as YUCA, insisted on physical textures to ground the animation, requiring the team to build a detailed, scale-model boxing ring that served as the central "portal" for the narrative. This tactile environment was then integrated with archival footage, creating a seamless visual bridge between the grainy, historic black-and-white clips and the polished, modern animated sequences.
A Voice for the Ages
The production relied on the gravitas of Michael Buffer, whose narration was recorded specifically to anchor the film's emotional arc. The sound design, spearheaded by Bumblebeat Audio Hive, was engineered to transition from the raw, ambient noise of early 20th-century ringside crowds to the high-fidelity, immersive soundscapes of contemporary stadium fights. This sonic evolution mirrors the magazine's own journey from a print-only publication to a digital-first authority.

Global Reach and Legacy
Launched on January 28, 2026, the campaign served as a cornerstone for the broader Riyadh Season boxing initiatives. By digitizing over 100 years of archives, the project transformed static historical records into an interactive experience for a new generation of fans. The campaign’s success was bolstered by its strategic alignment with major international bouts in the United Kingdom and the United States, effectively positioning *The Ring* as the definitive, living archive of the sport. The project stands as a testament to the collaboration between BigTime Creative Shop and international production partners to preserve boxing’s cultural heritage.
