Ladywell: Uncensor Your Health
Ladywell asked Saatchi & Saatchi LA to solve the business challenge of blocked advertising reach. The client needed to communicate vital health information to women, but faced systemic rejection from social media platforms that flagged health terminology as adult content. The goal was to bypass these algorithmic filters to ensure their target audience could access necessary health resources and information.
Creative Idea
Scrambled words bypassed censorship filters while remaining perfectly readable to the human brain.
To bypass social media algorithms that censored women's health terms as adult content, Ladywell used typoglycemia to scramble words, allowing women to access vital health information while turning a technical workaround into a broader movement for health equity.
Hacking the Algorithm with Human Cognition
Engineering the Typoglycemia Engine
To ensure the campaign remained invisible to automated moderation while staying legible to users, the team at Tool developed a proprietary text-scrambling algorithm. This tool utilized the principles of typoglycemia - a cognitive phenomenon where the human brain can read words despite scrambled internal letters, provided the first and last characters remain in place. By automating this process, the agency allowed Ladywell to generate thousands of assets that bypassed 100% of social media platform filters during the campaign’s initial month.
A Data-Driven Rebellion
The campaign’s success was rooted in its ability to turn a technical workaround into a measurable business asset. Beyond the 70M+ earned impressions, the initiative drove a 289% increase in website traffic for the brand. This surge was not merely vanity traffic; it represented a direct pipeline for women to access health information that had previously been suppressed by algorithmic bias. By proving that health advocacy could be both compliant and effective, the campaign forced a conversation about the limitations of automated content moderation in the wellness sector.

The Team Behind the Bypass
The project was a collaborative effort between Saatchi & Saatchi LA and Tool. Under the leadership of Ashley Rocha, the brand took a firm stance against the censorship of women's health terminology. Creative direction was spearheaded by Elaine Cox, Chris Pierantozzi, and Ryan Jacobs, who worked alongside creative directors Annie Elliott and Logan Miller to ensure the visual identity of the scrambled text remained consistent across all digital touchpoints. The technical execution was led by creative technologist Juan Ramon, whose work ensured the scrambled messaging remained functional across diverse social media interfaces.
