System 1 and System 2 thinking
Kahneman's two modes of decision-making: System 1 is fast, automatic and emotional; System 2 is slow, deliberate and rational. Most buying decisions run on System 1, which is why emotionally resonant, distinctive advertising tends to outperform rational persuasion - people feel first and rationalise afterwards.

Humans decide via heuristics (35,000 decisions a day) while AI thrives on complexity, description, hierarchy and rankings.PrincipleIn high-value or sensitive categories like automotive, pharma, and electronics, AI agents gain influence over the shortlist but people retain the final purchase decision, with only modest, mostly horizontal movement on the Four Modes map.Principle84%84% of purchasers end up choosing a brand they were already biased toward before they started shopping.StatAI and human audiences rank almost opposite creative traits as their top two preferences.StatThe Four Modes Framework maps marketing categories along who chooses (people vs. agents) and brand control vs. brand influence, yielding four distinct modes: Brand-to-Consumer, Consumer-to-Consumer, Agent-to-Consumer, and Agent-to-Agent.Principle
