Gucci sought to promote its seasonal collection by moving away from traditional fashion advertising. The client required a campaign that captured the essence of an Italian summer while highlighting specific accessories. The goal was to build emotional resonance with a target audience of luxury consumers by emphasizing intimacy, authenticity, and the slow-paced, aspirational lifestyle associated with the Mediterranean coast.

    Creative Idea

Friends play a guessing game, revealing the collection through intimate, nostalgic seaside memories.

Gucci transformed its summer collection into an intimate, sun-drenched narrative of friendship. By shifting from high-fashion artifice to candid, nostalgic storytelling, the campaign resonated with the desire for authentic, slow-paced luxury experiences in an increasingly fast-paced digital world.

From Sorrento Diaries to Cannes Silver

    A Shift in Visual Language

The 2025 iteration marked a departure from the high-energy, vibrant pool party aesthetic of the 2024 debut. Under the guidance of Creative Director Sabato De Sarno, the brand pivoted toward a documentary-style approach. Photographer Jim Goldberg was instrumental in this transition, utilizing his signature technique of overlaying candid, sun-drenched imagery with hand-written diary entries. This choice transformed the campaign from a standard fashion showcase into an intimate, nostalgic narrative of a Mediterranean summer.

    Cinematic Collaboration and Craft

The film assets were brought to life by the New York-based directing duo rubberband. (Jason Sondock and Simon Davis) and produced by SMUGGLER. The production team prioritized an authentic, lived-in atmosphere, filming on location in Sorrento, Italy, and aboard a sailboat. Cinematographer Patrick Golan captured the footage, which was set to the classical composition "And Birds Are Still…, Op. 72" by Takashi Yoshimatsu.

    Talent and Global Reach

The campaign introduced actress Daisy Edgar-Jones as a Gucci Brand Ambassador. She starred alongside David Jonsson and Aliocha Schneider, portraying a group of friends on holiday. This casting choice supported the brand's move toward "quiet luxury," focusing on personal style rather than overt ostentation. The initiative was bolstered by physical pop-ups in high-end destinations like Capri, Saint-Tropez, and the Hamptons. While specific sales figures remain private, the campaign generated millions of organic impressions across platforms like YouTube and Instagram, successfully driving demand for seasonal icons like the Bamboo 1947 and GG Marmont bags reimagined in raffia and crochet.
