Orange Slovakia tasked MADE BY VACULIK with addressing the growing crisis of youth radicalization online. The client needed to move beyond standard cyber-safety messaging to create a campaign that resonated with both parents and teenagers. The goal was to highlight the dangers of extremist content on social media and provide actionable resources, positioning the brand as a responsible leader in digital safety.

    Creative Idea

A smartphone was visually transformed into a weapon to represent the danger of radicalization.

By metaphorically transforming a smartphone into a weapon, the campaign visually equated digital hate speech and radicalization with physical violence, forcing users to confront the lethal potential of the content they consume and share daily.

Turning Smartphones Into Weapons of Radicalization

    Data Driven Foundations

The campaign was built upon a representative survey of 650 Slovak youth aged 13 to 20, conducted by the research agency 2muse. The findings were stark: 80% of young people reported encountering hate speech, while 90% had been exposed to misogynistic narratives. Perhaps most concerning, over 50% of teens encountered right-wing extremist content, yet only 20% recognized it as a serious threat, often dismissing it as a joke or a pose. This research provided the necessary evidence to shift Orange Slovakia’s CSR focus from traditional cyber-safety to the complex reality of algorithm-driven radicalization.

    From Screen to Reality

Director Dominik Ströhle and production house Stink Films Prague aimed to avoid literal depictions of recruitment. Instead, they focused on the emotional process behind a single message. The visual metaphor of a smartphone morphing into a handgun was designed to reflect the intensity, fear, and anger existing beneath the surface of everyday social media feeds. To ensure the message reached the right demographic, the campaign extended into gaming communities through the sub-activation Najsilnejšia zbraň v hre - or "The Strongest Weapon in the Game."

    Tangible Community Support

Beyond the creative execution, the initiative delivered concrete financial backing. Orange allocated €80,000 in grant funding via their educational hub, beznastrah.online, to support local school and youth projects. An additional €60,000 was directed to non-governmental organizations specializing in cyberbullying prevention and youth mental health. According to Martina Fatyková, Brand and Marketing Communications Manager, the campaign reflects the company's belief that as a technology provider, they bear responsibility for how their services are used to shape the virtual world.
